Naturally, we know a lot about the characters, simply by watching the episodes regularly, and witnessing the growth, change, development, etc that they experience as the show ran during it's eleven seasons... but sometimes, there's even tiny details that gives us some more insight into the characters, that aren't necessarily present on the screen. For example, from what I gather, Hawkeye obviously is a foodie, but he must especially love bananas: he once tells Trapper about a time as a child when he ate twelve banana sandwiches, and later in GFA, he says the one thing he's looking forward to when he gets home is a banana... with a piece of chocolate cake. Likewise, Frank seems to really like pudding too, if he prays for chocolate pudding in the Mess Tent all the time, and likewise prefers to have tapioca for his birthday rather than a cake. I also wonder if Trapper's favorite color is yellow? His bathrobe is yellow, his Hawaiian shirt is yellow, etc. But then again, Hawkeye wears red a lot (his bathrobe, his flannel shirt, etc), but has said his favorite color is blue.
Jeeter View Profile Posted: 1/5/2011 3:40:26 PM	Hawkeye has a blue Hawaiian shirt and blue flippers so I think that counts. Although you never really see flippers in a different color. Whats awesome is that I have the same colored robe and my favorite colors are blue and sometimes red. :) Hawkeye must love volleyball if all he does is read magazines with pictures of the women playing. He doesn't seem like much of a football or baseball player with the way he throws. Trappers favorite number could be 23? I've seen him wear a T-shirt with that number on it a couple of times. I have been too busy with family these past few weeks so I haven't found the time to sit down and read all the posts. I'll post some more though.

Earlier in the show, particular a few Season One episodes, Frank expresses SOME compassion or sympathy towards Asians, like in "Pilot Episode" (1x01), where he condemns Hawkeye and Trapper for their "corruption of Ho-Jon", or when he seemed shocked that Hawkeye would eat the liver of a dead North Korean. Later, he didn't mind seeing Cho Man Chin to carve a bust of Colonel Potter, but still seemed reluctant to pay him for his services. Later still, he spouts off his hatred for Koreans, being completely against the idea of Meg Cratty's orphans seeking shelter at the 4077th, and even later again, he hates ALL Koreans, even the South Koreans, like the 4077th's champion ping pong player.

The other forum that has normally been buzzing has been dead (The Bulletin Board). People have been on Christmas break and then had to go back to school and work. But have been many more posts on here than in a long while. Has actually been quite a few good posts on here lately. At least on the Main board. Now if you're expecting a new post every hour, then that's not going to happen!! But I for one have been impressed with the one a day or few days post on here and the deeper questions lately. It is happening and no need to push stuff. Just like I learned last night. You can spend a whole evening just clicking on the "what's new" file and catch up on the latest from the MASH actors plus others. Cut some people some slack and let them post when they can. Is a great forum and is no need to push people to post, it will happen with good content like we've always had. Peace out!

Anyway, here's something that just recently hit me about Radar that I never took into consideration before... He seems to develop crushes VERY easily. Cases in point: he experienced that "innocent crush at first sight" with Louise Anderson in "Love Story" (1x14), the second he tried to help her unload her luggage; later in "Springtime" (3x06), the sight of Lulu Simmons sunbathing in her bikini had a similar effect on him (they seemed like a more logical match, considering she was really dorky like him); and again "Hot Lips is Back in Town" (7x20), he found himself smitten with Linda Nugent upon her arrival. And even later still, he seemed to really hit it off with Patty Haven from "Good-bye Radar, Part 1" (8x04). Likewise, early Margaret seemed horny for various men almost all the time: not just Frank and the countless Generals she had affairs with, but even "well-built" visitors who came to camp, including Flagg in his first two appearances.

Oh yeah, I'm fine. Your line "The Forum is dead again. So here's a random thread to jump start it again" got me thinking and that's why I posted what I did. I am also on other forums (Drums, Diving, Etc) and some people post so often that they don't allow for discussion before moving on, NOT you. I also hate that you can't use "tone of voice" on here. I'm not angry and I'm sorry it came out that way. I meant it more in a lighthearted fun way. Thanks for the great discussions on here! Keep up the good work, but No I don't see this forum as dead lately.

I think a lot of teenagers are like that, especially naive ones. When I started high school, I had crushes on a few cute guys almost immediately. I never did ask them out or even talk to them because 1. I was too shy and 2. A lot of them turned out to be arrogant jerks. But anyhoo, back to the topic: I've noticed that Klinger puts a lot of detail into each of his outfits. He seems to favour bright colours and accessories such a necklaces and earrings. Maybe this one's kind of obvious and not a little thing but it's definitely something I've noticed over the seasons.

And in "Lieutenant Radar O'Reilly", when he asked Margaret for permission to use the officers' latrine, Radar exclaimed "Boy, National Geographic!" B.J. seemed to be hung up on socks. When packing up Frank's gear during "Fade Out Fade In", he very quickly flung a good pair of Frank's socks aside. Hawkeye: "You're pretty fast with the socks, fella!". Another episode B.J. is washing socks but never wears them. Another episode, B.J. borrows, or steals Hawkeye's socks. In "Period of Adjustement", B.J. makes a bad pun "Is that a pair of Argyle sots?". Hawkeye to B.J. "Put down that damn darning!" In the episode where Charles is charity officer, B.J. agrees to take over the task from Margaret in exchange for her to darn his socks. He just seemed really into socks for some reason.

Frank was the same way, in some of the cold snap episodes, he had a cluster on his tobbogan.

HAWKEYE: Just because you didn't get chocolate pudding at lunch today doesn't prove anything. FRANK: How did you know I prayed for chocolate pudding? HAWKEYE: You ALWAYS pray for chocolate pudding. On top of that, there's two other episodes where Frank fusses about all the pudding being eaten before his turn in chowline: once for rhubarb pudding, the other he whined because he didn't get to have tapioca on his birthday, because he always has tapioca on his birthday.

In Marget's tent I have noticed a picture of a man in MASH scrubs pinned up on the wall of bulletin board. But I can't make out who it might be. Has anyone else ever noticed this and might they know who the pin up is in Margret's tent? I thought it might be BJ...but why she would have a picture of BJ is beyond me.

I agree, he wanted to stand out and be noticed. Plus I think the shows producers wanted it to be way over the top so as to make sure it was known that it was an actor playing a role so as not to anger cross dressers and help it clear the censors better. Klinger dressing in stuff that's a little feminine, kinda weird, Klinger dressing in way flamboyant stuff and costumes, more funny.

I've noticed a couple of times when they're having breakfast in the Mess Tent, Hawk eats out of the center of his toast... I think there was another moment where he was eating half a sandwich, and he wasn't eating the crust. I KNOW there was one time where B.J. offered him a sandwich, and he asked if the crust was cut off, but it wasn't, so he didn't want it.

Several characters showed an interest in fishing as a hobby - Blake especially, but Potter, Hawkeye and BJ all at one time or another talked about how they enjoyed fishing.

At the same time, Hawkeye and Trapper seemed to be big on golfing in the first season too: they played golf from the helipad in the pilot, Hawkeye once tried to help Henry calm his nerves by playing up on the helipad, I seem to recall Trapper prescribing golf to someone to help them cope with tension and stress.

That's a good point. In the movie, Hawkeye and Trapper were big into golf (The Pro's From Dover). In the first few episodes, they mentioned golf a lot, but after that, it rarely came up for the two of them. Henry, on the other hand, is seen practicing golf swings several times throughout his time on the show. The last time I recall Hawkeye mentioned golf was when his father thought he had been killed - on the phone with his dad, Hawk said "I needed a new set of clubs anyway".
