Hurricane Sandy

Many members are in the path of this storm. Y'all keep us informed about how you are doing.

Stay safe and we wish you the well.

My school decided after everyone shows up that we'd only have a half day. They made the announcement two minutes into first period. They couldn't just cancel it like most of the schools within a two hour radius of us. So now I'm home, wind is picking up and it's raining but not that hard. The main thing we have to worry about is power outages, strong winds, and flash flooding. Should be fine and apparently it will be no where near as worse as the Irene/Lee duo of last year.

I've been watching the news coverage this evening. It's just unreal. I can't believe the HMS Bounty sank. Apparently one of the crew members is still missing. :(

I hope all the members in the New England area have somewhere safe they can go if the storm gets too severe.

It's being reported that at least 16 people have died because of this storm. How tragic. Hope all of you are o.k. in the storm's path. Let us hear from you.

And, yes, it's quite shocking that a replica of a famous ship used as a movie prop sank. That should of course be the headline of the day!

There's no need for sarcasm. I just thought it must have been terrible for the crew members who were on board at the time. One woman was drowned.

I certainly didn't mean that it was the only noteworthy tragedy.

Kirsten and Emily, so glad to hear it. Y'all continue to stay safe and warm. Hopefully, we'll hear from others in that area.

Uhh, what's with the sarcasm? Kinda rude. Like BadOctopus said, she was just pointing out an event that stood out to her. Doesn't mean that she finds that to be the headline. I was about to point out that someone here in Toronto was killed by a sign as a result of being on the edge of the storm. It doesn't mean that it stands out amongst the rest of the news stories.

Anyways, I wish all the best for the people dealing with Superstorm Sandy and for a relatively quick recovery.

Glad to hear everyone is okay so far. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those killed and to those still dealing with the storm's efects
