When Mash premiered

Anyone on this board actually watch the first episode of Mash when it aired on September 17, 1972?

Nope. I was in Nashville in 1972, plus I was not born yet.

No, I was a month short of my 6th birthday, and my parents weren't letting me watch prime time tv yet. The first episode I recall watching on it's original airdate would be season 4's The Late Captain Pierce

I don't recall the first episode i watched only that it was from Season 5. I know that because Margaret was going on about being engaged to Donald in the episode.

Nope. I was just a few months shy of being 7 so I was always in bed before it aired.

The first episode I did watch was when we were living in Seoul South Korea for just over a year in 1975/76. It was Welcome to Korea. I remember not seeing any Henry episodes until long after when re-runs started being shown.

I had just started Kindergarten in Sept. 1972 so no I did not see it. In fact, although I knew about MASH in the late 70s, at first I thought it was a dumb show. Then 2 of my friends got me into it during the summer of 1981. I enjoyed the reruns, and remember watching original run episodes on CBS starting the 1981-82 season.

I do however remember watching the very first episodes of "The Joker's Wild", "The Price is Right" and "Gambit" on CBS on Labor Day 1972, just 2 days before I began Kindergarten, and feeling disappointed that I was in a.m. Kindergarten, and ended up missing these three game shows. I'm still a huge game show fan to this day, but more a fan of the vintage stuff.

Did anyone on this board watch all the episodes in first run from the premiere to the finale?

You know, I don't remember watching many episodes when they premiered, but I don't know why; I was in elementary and middle school during its run and we didn't have a TV in every room. I'm guessing it was combination of bedtime, schedule conflicts, and the family wanting something else. Most of my original MASH watching was syndicated episodes.

Mash was in Season 5 when i first noticed it. I was a small child at the time so most of the humor went over my head. I became more of a fan as i got older and caught up with episodes in syndication. Somehow i got the idea that Potter was Henry's uncle and Trapper and B.J. were cousins. I guess because in those days a major character who left a series was usually replaced by a cousin, sister/brother, aunt/uncle.
