Ask anyone, like me, that has sibs that are very different. 2 sisters, 2 brothers here) It's certainly possible that Frank's brother is everything that Frank isn't.

I can't remember (honestly, I can't remember what episode he mentions a brother in either). If it's an older brother, I could see the brother being very different. If younger, I would think it would be even more of a snitch and a sniveler.

The brother was probably younger, smarter, talented, well liked, caring, athletic, compassionate, and married a great woman. Total opposite of Frank's life.

Apologies for bumping an old thread (I've been away for some time), but they did remark in the 30th Anniversary special that they always knew Larry Linville was getting the short end of the stick with Frank Burns often being made to look incompetent and a fool. There might have been other remarks, but I think that's what they were getting at there.
