Big Daddy O'Reilly View Profile Posted: 8/29/2018 6:37:17 PM	Fan Theory: Radar Knew All Along I've recently joined a Facebook group for M*A*S*H (honestly a whole lot more active than any forum anymore), and somebody offered up a theory that has totally blown my mind, but I'm not sure if I accept it or not: Radar knew about Henry's fate all along. The "evidence" for this theory is Radar's ESP, and knowing what's going to happen before it happens. Emotions were running high when Henry was leaving the 4077th for the last time, but Radar in particular was very tearful and was saluting him as he was boarding the chopper. Now, of course, we know that during that point in the series, Henry was like a father figure to Radar, so that's a logical explanation for his emotions; but this theory suggests that his tears were knowing the fate Henry was about to make, but not being able to say anything about it, and that the salute was actually paying one last respect to him. What do you think?

And thinking about how you interpreted Radar...being Radar, I can see your way being a possibility! Note sure if the writers on that episode were thinking that way.(Writers: Alan Alda, Larry Gelbart) Next time i watch it again I'll pay more attention to Radar!!!

I will second this, Radar cries as Henry's chopper is taking off caz Blake was like a father that he never had AND Radar was like a son to Blake. PS: The final scene and script was withheld from the actors until filming so that they could get the true emotion from the actors (knowing then that Stevenson could never return to the show) And also to show that Rule #1: People die in a war and that Rule #2: Doctors can't change rule #1. As Blake told Hawk in the episode "Sometimes you hear the Bullet".

Wayne Rogers' contract was also up at this time and he chose not to renew due to CBS's "Morale Clause" in the new contract that basically told him what he could or couldn't do while at CBS. Since he was already into the world of investments and Wall Street, he decided not to renew. Plus he got tired of playing second fiddle to Alan's Hawk since Rogers parts were small and slow to Alan's
