Second, I don't really think of fixing episodes - I think of scrapping them. Third, for the most part when I think of MASH episodes, I mostly think of them as average, good, very good, or great. One of my least favorite is Comrades in Arms. It felt forced to me. Had they not inserted the sex, the episode would have been very similar to an earlier episode. I don't think I would have let Radar turn grumpy in season eight right before he left. If he was going to turn grumpy, he should have gotten grumpier in seasons six or seven. It was like his grumpy switch just got flipped.

She falls too hard and too fast and gets engaged to a guy that turns out to be a complete loser. Not that people haven't done it in real life, but it felt more like an excuse to set up Larry Linville's departure at the end of the season and was handled poorly. If she had to get engaged in this doomed way, I'd have made them either meet in a previous episode so at least we'd have heard of the guy, or delay the engagement till the middle of the season. Also, they really handled poorly Frank suddenly being open about his relationship with Margaret. I would have fixed that too. Also, I would have taken that stupid folding chair out of the Father Mulcahy scene in I Hate a Mystery. The scene would have been much better just relying on the dialogue.

I agree, I wasn't fond of that episode either. A strong woman like Margaret would never fall for a buffoonish guy like Donald Penobscot. Also, The syndicated version of that one ends with a sad Frank saying "Goodbye Margaret" as the chopper departs. I actually think it was a better ending for a character like Frank Burns rather than the uncut version which ends with a scene in the Swamp (I don't remember the actually dialogue, I haven't seen this one in a long time).

It almost appears like Potter and Winchester are in on it too?? Maybe it's meant to expose the character flaws in Hawk and BJ? But I don't get it? Don't know how I would re-write it or how I would do it, but I just don't get it. Now the one with Roy Dupree from the eight-O, sixty-three, That one I would just scrap!! ;-)

I forgot about this one. Yeah, it was another one to scrap. I didn't have a problem with the Roy Dupree episode. Not in the all-time great category, mind you, but a decent one. I liked Potter telling Sophie she could step on his hat if she wanted and Charles actually appreciating Hawkeye's return at the end. I did have a hard time taking George Lindsey seriously as a doctor after remembering him from Andy Griffith and Hee Haw.

Even if he was always viewing himself as separate and apart from the others in camp, he could get along with or agree with the other Swamp rats more than Frank ever could.

Radar seemed shy and awkward, and way too young to have been engaged. While the physical comedy was amazing by Alan Alda, I can't picture Hawkeye allowing himself to be in that situation for some reason. The fake gold story was just awful altogether...
