House Arrest Question

During this episode, Colonel Reese (female) bunked with Margaret which caused Frank to ask "Why does she have to sleep HERE?" Margaret replied "Because there's no room in officers' country." My question is, why wasn't the V.I.P. tent available for Colonel Reese?

Great question! Maybe the V.I.P. tent was unavailable because it was damaged?

I've never even considered any of this before, but yeah, both of you definitely have a point, in situations like this, with Colonel Reese being the most decorated nurse in the army, they would've placed her in the VIP tent . . . then again, that would mean we wouldn't have had the plot device of her coming onto Frank and Margaret catching them at that.

It works for the story line

If they knew she was coming, it's hard to believe that some arrangements couldn't be made to get the colonel her own tent.

MASH has some super one-time characters and Colonel Reese was one of them. When she was unpacking, didn't she unpack one of spring resistance exercise things? How hilarious.

And she also had a garter 'in case there was a dance'...lol.

Nothing about the episode

This time of year we usually watch White Christmas and in the past couple of months, the Sister Act movies have managed to cross my TV watching path. I wonder if you've noticed that Mary Wickes really didn't age a great deal from White Christmas (1954) to this MASH episode (1973ish) to the Sister Act movies (1993ish).

I'm sure this was discussed on at least one other thread on this site, but MASH really had some top notch actors doing some really top notch one episode characters - Mary Wickes, Ned Beatty, Patrick Swazey (spelling?), Ron Howard, Pat Hingle, just to name a few.

Too serious

I think FinestKindinTN said it best with the title "It works for the storyline" sometimes it's just what works best for the story....the writers have to write all of these different characters on the show and it's always going to be more about that then how accurate they are depicting things....let's try and remember it's a sitcom not a documentary.
