Press Release - "Daniel's Lot"

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Gary Burghoff, best known for his portrayal of ‘Radar’ O’Reilly on the long-running hit television series M*A*S*H, has joined the supporting cast of the Christian-themed movie, “Daniel’s Lot”, the movie’s director announced today.

De Miller, who is directing the feature film for Faith & Power Pictures, said Burghoff will appear as one of the movie’s main supporting characters, portraying a local Pastor named William Mahoney.

“We are thrilled to have Gary join out outstanding cast of Christian actors,” Miller said. Faith and Power Pictures is an outreach ministry of the Faith and Power Worship Center in Apopka, FL. The movie, now in production in central Florida, is a love story of faith, obedience, redemption and salvation.

Burghoff, who is an official Florida resident, spends his summers at his cottage in central Connecticut. He is a born again Christian.

“I read the script, prayed and The Lord told me to do this,” Burghoff said of his involvement with the project.. “I respect what they (Faith and Power Worship Center) are doing very much.”

FPWC is following in the footsteps of several other ministries in the south as it embarks into the world of feature film making, according to Apostle Matthew Shaw, the senior pastor of the 10-year-old ministry.

“Several church organizations in this part of the country have been very successful recently in reaching a wide audience with the Christian message,” said Apostle Matthew Shaw, senior pastor of Faith and Power Worship Center. The church (www.FPWC.tv) holds twice weekly worship services at the Apopka VFW Center at the present time.

Pastor Shaw noted that the Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, GA., and the University United Methodist Church of Charlotte, N.C., have been successful in reaching beyond the normal Christian audiences to make an impact with the general film-going public.

“Not only are families looking for good, wholesome entertainment at the theaters,” Pastor Shaw believes,” but more and more people are coming to The Lord via new and unique avenues. The silver screen is one of those avenues.”

For a number of years, mega-church organizations such as the Billy Graham Ministries and Bishop T.D. Jakes Potter’s House Ministry have had successful motion picture releases. Apostle Shaw believes his church has all the ingredients necessary to make a success of this foray into the entertainment world.

“We have a script that is full of drama, comedy and a bit of mystery, as well as delivering a powerful message of faith and redemption,” the pastor believes.

The story, titled “Daniel’s Lot”, tells of a down and out office worker and his struggle to come to terms with his loyalty to his late father, personal problems within his own family and a newfound obedience to God which provides the deliverance he needs.

“It is a simple, yet powerful story,” Pastor Shaw said. “We believe it will be life-changing because it touches on issues faced today by thousands of people throughout America and the world. The story deals with everyday issues faced by many, many people and provides a message of deliverance which is available to everyone.”

Burghoff, who is retired, last acted in 2005 and last appeared in a film in 1995, “Behind the Waterfall, “ in which he starred with his daughter Gena. He presently divides his public appearances between playing drums with his jazz band and attending art shows featuring his wildlife paintings.

Burghoff, who received seven Emmy nominations for his portrayal of the lovable M*A*S*H company corporal with unique intuitive powers, won the award in 1977. He appeared in well over half of the episodes of the series which ran for eleven years. He left the cast shortly after the start of the eighth season. He also has the distinction of being the only actor to appear in the same role in both the theatrical movie and television series of M*A*S*H.

Principal photography on the movie will be completed by the middle of October, Miller said. A New Year’s 2010 release is planned. Miller invited interested individuals to follow the progress of the filming at the company’s website, www.faithandpowerpictures.com or www.danielslotmovie.com.
